Symbol Art
Double Eagle
Eagles rising from the land at the
bottom and threw the tree shown in
the middle. The wings are out
stretched with the tail at the top
guiding the eagle to the top of the
mountains.
Eagles are symbols of peace and
power. They taught all the birds how
to salvage food sources when times
are bad. Eagle feathers were used
as symbols of great power by
charmen and tribal leaders.
Beaver
Beavers are known for their abilities
to create ponds where food would
gather for all animals of the forest.
Their great power symbolized wealth
as they provided furs for trading.
Beavers also provided a source of
wood to villages providing fire to
cook and keep the lodges warm.
Double Hawk, Crane,
Double Eagle, and Raven
Starting from the bottom the Raven
created all things which he used to
do his bidding. The Eagles were to
be the power of the Raven in the
sky. The Crane was the power of the
water and the Hawk held the power
to control the land and trees.
Raven was known to be a trickster,
lazy and always hungry and he used
all the birds to get what he wanted.

Double Raven
Raven was the creator of the world
according to legends of Southeast
Alaska. The reason for this is
simple; as everywhere you saw
raven or ravens. If you saw a moose
you saw a Raven, a bear the same
thing and so on. Many legends of
the Raven give him credit for great
powers to create.
Native people of Southeast Alaska
formed clans and the first clan was
the Raven Clan when Raven
married the fish women raising a
family of 4 girls and 4 boys thus the
name Double Raven
Double Duck
Waterfowl is abundant all over the
coastal waters of North America.
Ducks are good source of protein
and were hunted during the
migration seasons.
Sometimes native people would
honor an animal for giving up their
lives to sustain humans. Clans or
villages would use that name for
their Clan.
This painting shows two ducks back
to back meaning there are many
ducks that migrate north and south,
I call it Double Duck.
Orca
Killer whales are the kings of the
food chain in the oceans of the
world. Native people hold them
sacred as they believe they are the
keepers of their ancestors.
Killer whales have a high
intelligence and can think abstract
and reason threw problems helping
them to dine on the bounty of the
sea.
The Orca has a long life span similar
to ours. They also have bilingual
ability when communicating with
other Orca pods or groups.

Frog Family
Raven gave the frog the
guardianship of all the treasures of
the world so he could create land.
Frog gave the Raven bags of sand
from his water domain and Raven
scattered the sand over the water
and making islands of all sizes. This
was the beginning of all things as
the Raven fulfilled his promise to
the fish women to create land.
Frogs are the guardians of the
water people and if you watch a frog
he will hide on the shore and when
approached he will jump into the
water and tell his people of danger.
Hawk
Hawks are considered by native
people to have great flying ability,
courage, and guard their domain
against other raptors. Hawk
feathers attached to your weapons
mean you have the courage to use
them.
Many warriors wear the feathers to
show their courage and power to
protect their families.
Frogs
Frogs are all over the world. They
have a bond to the water to
proliferate their species. Some
frogs can survive many years buried
in the ground until it rains.
This painting is showing their
attachment to water and connection
to the land. The children of the frog
are shown at the top separating
from the parents to seek food.

Otter's
The otters are embraced showing a
family attachment. Otters have great
power given to them by the Raven
to be able to change people into
animals.
Native people believe that all things
had to be created and the Raven
knew he couldn't do this all by
himself so he appointed certain
animals to help him create the
animals of his dream.
Wolves
The wolf is a social animal with a
leader and soldiers to help collect
food to sustain them.
Native people believe that the wolf
is a braggart. He also controls all
the animals of the forest with his
cunning ways.
The painting shows a Alpha Male at
the top that carries his tail high to
show who is boss. The figures on
each side is the spirit of the wolf
showing half wolf and half man. The
bottom figures are alpha male and
alpha female and just above is the
symbol of the pups.
Great Blue Heron
Herons are birds that are connected
to the land and water. They are
patience and tenacious to acquire
their food.
Native people call them the spirit
bird.

Wolf
Wolf symbols show the power of this
animal to control his environment.
The wolf has endurance to chase
down his prey shown in the painting
with claws and ovoids. His teeth are
his weapons to kill his food and
protect his being. The eyes, nose
and ears are the senses he uses to
find food and protect him from
danger.
Orca Pod and the Whale
Orca's are the kings of the ocean
and work together to dispatch their
prey.
The painting shows a whale being
attacked by a pod of Killer whales.
Orca's can attack other tooth whales
and have been known to kill great
white sharks and dolphins.
Killer whales are the largest of the
dolphin family.
Sea Otters
Sea otters live in the giant kelp just
off shore. This is a great source of
their favorite foods  like abalone,
crab, urchins, fish and clams.
The painting shows giant kelp rising
to the surface with shellfish brought
to the surface to eat. There is a clam
totem between the paws and the
back feet are the paddles they use
to dive for food.
