Polar Bear Mom at Rest
This Painting was inspired by my trip to St. Lawrence Island in
the Bearing Straits. I was part of the construction management
group that built a new school in the village of Gambel.
Polar bears are a problem when the sea ice locks the island in
for the winter. They had to destroy a polar bear the day before
we arrived as she was stalking the children of the village in
the school yard.
